Intro to Game Design & Unreal Engine 5
Student Testimonials
Savannah Treu - University of Georgia Undergrad
I was extremely excited to be offered a class in game design, something I never thought I would have access to in my college career. Paul’s class completely broadened my horizons, introducing me to parts of designing a working video game that I never would have thought to explore. After just one semester under Paul's guidance, I feel confident enough in my abilities using Unreal Engine to be able to contribute in a team and even design a game myself more in depth and developed than the ones made for class. I’m extremely grateful for the skills I mastered in the class thanks to Paul’s knowledge of the software and willingness to provide help whenever necessary.
Edom Kassaye - University of Georgia MFA
I was nervous about taking a Game Design class because I am not a gamer, I was just very curious about game development and design. The course allowed me to gain insight into the nuts and bolts of making games through Unreal Engine, in just a semester. With what I learned, I was able to make a fully functioning game!! This was only possible because of Mr. Markert's captivating way of teaching. He taught us the theories behind game design, familiarized us with numerous mechanics in Unreal Engine, and made sure we fully comprehended everything through practical application.
Leila Beheshti - University of Georgia MFA
After attending game class, I was motivated to play games and think about game design.
In addition to creating my own ideas, you gain a better understand what goes on behind every game.
It was a great class that gave me a new perspective on working.
Rissa Willis - University of Georgia MFA
This class taught me two main things: First, that game-making is very difficult, but second, that I am fully capable of doing it. This was one of the funnest and also best designed courses I have gotten to be a part of. Paul did an excellent job providing both the resources we needed to create and the space we needed to be creative. I have gained more than one new skill in this class, and I can't wait to see what else I can build.
